Celebrating 14 Years!

Sunday was our 14th anniversary. It's hard to believe that it's been 14 years, but looking at all of the kids around us makes it more believable, I guess.

We decided to celebrate by leaving Friday for a little piece of Bavaria- Leavenworth, WA. This is a little town in the middle of apple country, where 40 years ago the residents decided to make this a little piece of Germany. I would have loved to be at that town meeting:"All right, we can't all be apple farmers. So the plan is to turn main street into a German town. Joe, open a German restaurant. Janet, put your nutcrackers on display and call it a museum. Bob, you'll have to learn to play the accordian. And everyone, get some lederhosen."

It is a fun little town, though, and since Tammy served her mission in Austria it was full of memories. We got to eat schnitzel and spatzel for dinner! (I can't belive there aren't more german restaurants around). It was great.

We stayed at the Bavarian Lodge, right along main street.

The next morning, we popped into some of the little shops and the art fair that was going on. Our favorite was a little toddler T-shirt that said "All mommy wanted was a back rub!" (sorry, no picture). We got a vase from one of the artists and a Christmas ornament from the Christmas store.

Thanks, Johnsons, for watching the kids for the night. Here's to the next 14 years!

ok, I'm so jealous! That town looks so cute! The closest we come is Oktoberfest in Snowbird. Lame. We do have a great German deli downtown, though, so if I'm dying for German food, it's the best. Congrats on the 14 years!
